Responding to the clamor of the various construction sectors in the flat glass industry, PFGMI committed to help in the recycling of cullet or broken glasses (called BUBOG in the local dialect). BUBOG are generated from the operations of the dealers, fabricators, processors and construction sites all over the Philippine archipelago and if not properly collected, stored and transported up to the cullet stations and/or drop-off centers, these will end up to landfills and/or illegal dumpsites with the following adverse consequences:
This move of PFGMI can also assist all stakeholders in the glass industry to comply with the environmental laws such as Republic Act No. 9003, otherwise known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 and the implementing rules and regulations up to the city, municipal and barangay levels. It can also enhance individual and collective contribution to Corporate Social Responsibility. It can bring everyone to a more productive and competitive level while having a safer and an enjoyable workplace.
Being one of the founding members of the Flat Glass Alliance of the Philippines, Inc. ( FGAPI), PFGMI will share its expertise in establishing a more systematic collection of BUBOG nationwide.
